We have not had a particularly warm summer this year. It has been colder than usual and wet. Not that I am complaining too much, it is nice not arriving home, after a 1.5 mile bike ride from school, drenched in sweat. But then again, I miss the heat. And I am afraid that when we do make it out to Utah in August we will suffer from heat exhaustion.
A couple of weeks ago we went hiking and camping and this is what we encountered when we reached the top:

Benjamin had a great time though. He loves to discover the outdoors!

Benjamin also had a great time with the flashlight.

The next morning we were going to run a 4-miler, but when we awoke, we discovered a flat tire. After recruiting other campers, WD40, leverage bars and ultimately Volkswagen’s roadside assistance, we were finally able, with the help of a power tool, to remove the tire and replace it. By the time we pulled out of the campground, the 4 mile race was a distant memory.
I guess there is always next year…at least we hope that won’t be an option!

As for me, I will take the cloudy skies any day. We have had nothing but sunny, hot day after sunny, hot day. We will be in Utah the 15th through the 23rd of August. Will you be there then? We would love to see you. Denise
