Benjamin ran his first 5k race this past Father’s Day weekend.
Disclaimer: He had the help of a motorized chariot, or more precisely Dad pushing a stroller, but he crushed the competition.
We started in the back of the pack so as to not to obstruct the path of any runners. We were, after all, only there for the experience. But I had no idea how slow people go. I felt like reminding the runners that it was a race, not an excursion. So Benjamin and I decided to pick up the pace and join the race and forget about being courteous. Often the road was blocked with runners/joggers/walkers/molasses and so Benjamin and I settled for the alternate – the side of the road. It was a tad bit bumpy on the side, but Benjamin giggled when we raced on the grass. Our first mile was actually just under 9 minutes, but we were able to make up some time and finish with a time of 24.08.
It was a great race and actually many people cheered us on and complimented us when we passed them. It was a great Father’s Day gift and we look forward to our next race and hopefully we will beat our time.

If you notice, Benjamin’s name was on the running bib.
